In a protocol ceremony held on November 4, the Mexican business group nuvoil signed the letter of adhesion to the United Nations Global Compact, in which it commits to incorporate the 10 Principles on human rights, labor rights, the environment and fight against corruption, as part of its strategy, culture and everyday actions.

The act was headed by Gustavo Perez Berlanga, Member of the Board of Directors of the United Nations Global Compact and Mariano Hernandez Palmeros, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the nuvoil business group; also present were Jose Antonio Sardiña, president of Canacintra Veracruz, Patricia Martinez, president in Latin America of the allied company Enerflex, Aradí Martínez Tijerina, director of Triple Beneficio Mexico S.C, as well as Guadalupe Barrientos Lopez and Jorge Pascual Gomez, president and secretary respectively, of the Arbor Ars Civil Association, Education, Art and Culture; Ricardo Yepes Geron and Peppi Paulita Stunkel, general director and international liaison officer respectively, of the Yepez A.C Foundation, who are part of our strategic allies; as well as members of the nuvoil team.

 

The ceremony began with the presentation of the company by Victor Aguilar Pizarro, Director of Planning, Administration and Finance of nuvoil, followed by a few more presentations on the Comprehensive Management System and Clean Development Mechanism Plant 3 Hermanos, sustainable project of the corporate.

 

The UN representative continued with the introduction to the Global Compact and welcomed nuvoil: “Everything is personal in Social Responsibility, all the time we are impacting, the world is bigger than our paradigms. The Global Compact is not a minor issue, for nuvoil to be an exemplary company in this initiative and not only a participant, it needs everyone. The case of nuvoil is the exception, not the rule, in the oil industry there are not many who can set the example, I give nuvoil the most cordial welcome,” said Gustavo Perez Berlanga, to then sign the letter of adhesion.

To conclude the protocol ceremony, Mariano Hernandez Palmeros said “Adherence to the Global Compact is only one more step in our commitment to contribute to sustainable development and the pursuit of business excellence. This initiative is totally in tune with our philosophy, to be part of it is to confirm our decision of being a company that transcends in a sustainable way over time.

Among the Mexican companies that are adhered to the Global Compact are Cemex, Toks, Xcaret, IPADE Scotiabank, and others. Adhesion entails a commitment to annually communicate to the UN the progress made in each of the ten principles of the Global Compact.
